LaVee, six-month old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Thompson, of Beaver, died Monday at the Milford hospital of whooping cough and pneumonia. Neil Boyter, who is managing the R. C. Murdock branch store at. Milford, Mil-ford, and who formerly played with the Beaver orchestra, has joined the Milford orchestra. The Shepherd Creamery has installed in-stalled a new electric can-washing machine at a cost of over ?1,000. The new machine will save a large amount of labor and is more sanitary than the old hand-washing method. Gov. Geo. H. Dern and party stopped stop-ped over in Beaver Friday for lunch at the Beaver Hotel, enroute to Cedar Ce-dar City to attend ho inaugural ceremonies of the new Masonic lodge at that place. Saturday and Sunday the governor's party visited the southern parks. Another "deer drive" was made this week by Warden Cy Davis, assisted as-sisted by about 20 or 25 sportsmen from Beaver, to relieve the North Creek farmers who have complained of a large amount of damage being done to their crops by the doer. Several Sev-eral miles of territory was covered by the sportsmen in the North Creek vicinity, but only about fifteen deer were seen. These were peppered with bird-shot and took to the higher reaches. They probably will not return re-turn very soon. Cy Davis, manager of the Beaver County Fish Hatchery informs us v that the hatchery is filled to capacity capa-city with eggs, some 1G5,000 rainbow eggs having been received this week. The new rearing ponds at the hatchery hatch-ery are proving a great success, G5,-000 G5,-000 six inch fish having been taken from these ponds in December and planted in the Beaver river, and last week 24,000 ten inch trout were taken tak-en from the ponds and placed in the streams. This method of planting fish should soon make the streams and lakes of Beaver county an Izaak Walton paradise. Gov. Dern stopped over in Beaver a short time Monday on his return from the Southern Parks to confer with members of the Fish and Game club, relative to the agitation to remove re-move Cyrus Davis as warden in Beaver county, owing to his political affiliations. The governor reiterated his former statement that he favored taking the office of game wardens out of politics. However, ns the Democratic De-mocratic Central committee, at a recent re-cent meeting held in Milford, agreed to withdraw their request for n change in wardenships, and also agreeing to support the present incumbent in-cumbent in office, the matter seems to have reached a satisfactory climax. |
