Show OPTIMISM KEYNOTE KEY-NOTE OF LIONS CLUBMEETING Members and visitors Give Outlook Out-look on Business and Industrial Indus-trial Conditions in Milford and Vicinity. There were no pessimists at the regular noon luncheon of the Milford Lions club Wednesday. The meeting, meet-ing, .which resolved itself into a pep meeting, brought out many points to prove that Milford is favorably situated situ-ated as to the present and future outlook. Lions Parrish, Ellingsworth, Kinney Kin-ney and Sam Cline made short talks on the present financial and industrial industri-al conditions of the country as they affect Milford and vicinity. All were in accord that Milford was not only holding its own under present conditions, condi-tions, but that these conditions were improving and the future for this section was exceptionally bright. The speakers cited the business and prosperity that the building of the Boulder dam would bring through railroad channels, the encouraging outlook of mining activities in this section, the possibility of developing an oil field here, and last but not least, the splendid crop outlook for the coming season. "More boosters," boost-ers," as Lion Ellingsworth stated, "and less down-in-the mouth expressions" expres-sions" is what is needed just now to start things rolling. C. G. Haskell, one of the progressive progress-ive farmers on the flat, stated that the prospects for a 'bumper alfalfa seed crop was never better. He also invited the Lions to hold one of their luncheons at the community club house on the flat in the near future an invitation the Lions readily accepted. ac-cepted. F. B. Robinson, engineer of the Minersville project, was a visitor at the luncheon, and gave an interesting interest-ing talk on conditions in that section. The prospects this season, Mr. Robinson Robin-son stated, are exceedingly good for a prosperous year. Last but not least, was a talk by that jovial oil well promoter and driller, Walter James, who notwithstanding notwith-standing many set-backs, is confident that a producing oil well will be in evidence at Black Rock in the near future. Mr. James stated that negotiations were underway whereby California and Oregon capital will be enlisted in removing the steel which blocked progress on the deep well at Black Rock, but in the meantime work is being pushed on Well No. 2, and casing cas-ing is on the ground now to begin operations. |
