Show VETS REHABILITATED TOYS TO MAKE KIDDIES HAPPY ON CHRISTMAS MORN : i Hundeds of brightly painted and shinning toys are coming from the work shop of the Veterans of Foreign For-eign Wars to gladden the hearts of many a Miiford child, whose Christmas Christ-mas this year would be meager. Dolls sleds, skoters, volocipedes and other discard toys, gathered from the attics at-tics and sheds abot town, have been taken to the Vets, whose dexterity with saws ,hammers, planes and paints, have transformed these derelicts dere-licts of other days into attractive and useful Christmas toys. '' The skill and patience displayed by members of the organization in rehabilitating re-habilitating these discarded toys are commendable , as well as the unselfish unsel-fish spirit in devoting their time to make a merry Christmas for the kiddies kid-dies whose parents can ill-afford, this year, to buy such splendid gifts for their children. Old broken sleds, have had new runners put on them, or the useable parts of two volocipedes voloci-pedes have been made into one sub- stantial machine; new rockers sawed out for the little rocking chair, or the mechanical toy that would not run, is made to operate. All these are brightly painted and are gifts that any child may be proud to own. Not only have the Vets worked untiringly un-tiringly at their job, but they have been ably assisted by their wives who have made pretty dresses for the many dolls. The organization desires to express ex-press their thanks for the cooperation coopera-tion the people of Milford have given them in bringing in these discarded toys, but as they now have as many on hand as can possibly be rebuilt re-built in time for delivery on Christmas Christ-mas eve, no more toys will be received receiv-ed after today. The movement inaugurated by the Vets of Foreign Wars this season to provide toys to make a happy Christ-mast Christ-mast for the many kiddies of Milford, Mil-ford, has proven most successful, and too much credit cannot be piven the organization for their work. |
