Shepherd, Pastor Christian Science "Adam and Fallen Man" is the subject sub-ject of the Lesson-Serrrton in all churches chur-ches of Christ Scientist, Sunday, May 10. The citations comprising the Lesson-Sermon include the following from the Bible: "And the Lord God (Johovah, Yawah) caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adan and he slept: and He took one his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead therof; and the rib, which the Lord God (Jehova) had taken from man, made He a woman, and brought her unto the man" (Genesis (Gen-esis 2:21, 22). The Lesson-Sermon also includes the following correlative passage from the Christian Science textbook "Sciece and Health, with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "Here falsity, error, credits Truth, God, with inducing a sleep or hypnotic state in Adam in order to perform a surgical orperation on him and thereby there-by create woman. This is the first record of magnotism. Beginning creation with darkness instead of light, materially rather than spiritually, spiritu-ally, error no simulates the work of Truth, mocking love and declaring what great things error has done" (Page 528). o |
