Show OFFICERS ELECTED AT GAME CLUB MEET Sportsmen from all over the county coun-ty attended the Beaver County Fish and Game club meeting held in Beaver Monday evening. State Game Commissioner Newell Cook was down from Salt Lake City to attend the meeting, and in a very interesting talk presented the problems prob-lems of the fish and game department depart-ment and efforts that are being made to maintain and improve hunting and fishing conditions in this state. Mr. Cook complimented the local club as being one of the most active organizations of its kind in the state, and the one club from which the state department received one hundred hund-red per cent cooperation. Officers Elected The purpose of the meeting Monday Mon-day evening was the election of officers offic-ers for the ensuing year, the by-laws of the organization having been revised re-vised a few months 'ago, changing the date of the annual election of officers from January to May. j Jos. H. Bakes, present incumbent of the office as president, fwas renominated, re-nominated, and on motion of Geo. Jefferson of Milford, Mr. Bakes was; re-elected by acclamation. The same procedure was followed in the reelection re-election of Alex Hamilton as secretary secre-tary and treasurer of the club. . However, in matter of electing five directors, eleven nominations were made, and a selection was made by ballot. The five nominees receiving receiv-ing the highest number of votes I were Frank Cartwright, Beaver; J. C. Tolton, Beaver; Pratt Root, Milford; K. A. Barton and Neils Jensen, Jen-sen, Beaver. Warden Discussed The matter of selecting a game warden to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Cyrus Davis, was brought before the club by Commissioner Commis-sioner Cook. This 'appointment has been postponed from time to time, owing to the inability of the fish and game club and the Democratic Central Cen-tral committee to agree upon a man for the position who would be satisfactory satis-factory to all parties concerned. G. H. Wilson, chairman of the Democratic Central committee, and A. R. Hamilton, secretary of tlnl game club, each represented their respective organizations, explained j the stand they had taken in the mat- 1 ter, and an amiable agreement was reached, that it would be satisfactory to either organization, for Mr. Cook to appoint any one. of the three men who received '.he highest vote in the recent poll held by the Fish and Game club. The candidates receiv-j ing the highest votes, and from which list the appointment will be I made, are Murray Bohn, Gus Easton and Chas. Whornham, the appointment appoint-ment to be made within thres davs following the date of the annual i meeting. Davis Praised Commisioner Cook praised Cyrus DaVis, the retiring warden and hatchery hat-chery manager, for the efficient aid jhe had given the department during his tenure in office, and for the good i work he had accomplished at the hatchery. Wm. Whitney, manager of the fish hatchery and game farm at Springville, gave an interesting talk n the propagation of fish and pheasants phea-sants at the farm, the cost of production pro-duction of the birds and what must be done to make better hunting and fishing in the state of Utah. |
