Show AUXILIARY TO GIVE MEDAL TO STUDENT FIRST IN STUDIES A medal for scholarship will be awarded by the local post of the American Legion Auxiliary to the eight grade student who has been most successful in his studies during the school year, it was decided at a meeting of the Auxiliary held last Thursday night at the L. D. S. Church. The award will come at the close of the school year. Deportment and the qualities that go to make for good citizenship will be considered as well as scholarship when the candidate is presented for the honor of the Auxiliary Auxil-iary illuminus medal. The plan was an outgrowth of a paper pa-per of Americanism presented at the meeting by Mrs. Orina Carlson and is in line with a movement sponsored by the national organization to increase interest in scholarship and develop a sense of citizenship in school children child-ren throughout the United States. Another paper, Legislation, was read by Mrs. Marie Lewis before the meeting was given over to practice of songs to be sung at the convention of the Auxiliary in the summer. The next meeting of the organization organiza-tion will be a social held at the home of Mrs. Orina Carlson. o |
