Show Dixie Man Loses Hand in Planer Mishap Charles S. Cottam, Dixie's pioneer contractor and builder, suffered an accident early Tuesday morning that resulted in the loss of his left hand. 1 He was operating the planning mill in his yard making forms for the concrete pedestal to be installed for the new temple lighting system when his left hand was drawn into the machine and so badly mangled that amputation was necessary at the wrist. He was working alone at the planer when the accident occurred. As his hand became entangled . the motor stalled slightly and Mr. Cat-tam Cat-tam caught the motor belt with his right hand, staying the power, while he shouted for help. Washington County News. |
