C E E. representatives representatives of the Reclamation service made to the Uintah basin calls to mind the fact that there exists an agency whereby these lands near My Myton ton can be e watered at a reasonable cost The rhe United States Reclamation service was organized in 1902 to build just such projects and since sinco the one ono project in Utah the Strawberry Strawberry Strawberry Straw Straw- berry project has recently been completed completed com com- and placed in operation it seems reasonable to believe that the service could be interested in this project especially since over 60 per percent percent cent of the tho lands are controlled ab absolutely by y the government In addition addition addition ad ad- to this the cost would be extremely extremely ex reasonable as compared with all aU other Reclamation service pro jests It ia is possible if the Reclamation tion service be bo interested that a a. storage reservoir be constructed at Still waters on the head of Rock creek a canal constructed from tram this point down across Purple and Blue benches to the lower end of Blue bench the water conveyed in a s l across the tho river above bove Antelope and fro from there thero to the lands landa in question in another ca- ca nal ual Thia This canal would cover all theland tho the tholand tholand land mentioned before as well as s 40 40 additional acres on Purple bench and ud would bring the total acreage of oC the project to acres If this project should cost and there thore is every reason to believe bellevo the cost would be much less thoI the tho cost of water to the Uio settler would be bo well under 20 per acre acro This Is no idle dream but a proposition that can be made a v. reality if tho the s settlers concerned could be brought together and make efforts to get the proper officials of the government interested So far tar the tho Reclamation service has only built bunt projects that were considered too hard or too costly for private capital to start or to complete and in consequence the service service service ser ser- vice has had the name in the past of oC an organization which expended far too much money to accomplish its ends Such is not tho the case caso The service builds for the future futuro as well as for the present and does far better bet bet- better ter work in a more substantial man ner than any private concern concern and thus cut down the ultimate cost to the consumer by saving the constant cost of repairs and renewals The majority of people living in inthis inthis inthis this section and a great many visitors tors know know what what the South Myton bench and Pleasant valley look like but few of them have ever gone on farther south and looked over the tract of land th that t is ie now held up from lay by reason of the tho application of at F.
