Show WHEN IT'S NEEDED The American Legion, in an address to the public, asks that service men be given preference in selecting employes The Legion says that 600,000 service men are idle, many of them walking the streets, wondering where their next meal is coming from In some states the relief laws are operating to furnish these men with the necessities of life, but most states have no such laws. Congress has delayed action on disability and compensation compen-sation bills until they will be too late to prevent suffering this winter. This is a subject that should be very near every Amen- can heart. Such a situation would not have been tolerated for a minute in 1917 and 1918, and should not be tolerated now. There is just as strong reason for the solicitude for the service man to-, to-, day as there was three years ago when he was in cantonment, on i transport or in the trenches. If there's a citizen of Delta who can t aid even one of these service men, NOW is the time he needs it : most. |
