When our boys and girls thoroughly understand the work there will be beauty snl Inspiration in every tank. The club work will teach them these things. With the demonstration work among the farmers and the club work among the boya and girls, Millard County Ii sure to come to the front along agricultural agricul-tural lines and take her place where she belongs among the greatest and ' ' most progressive counties In the state. BOY8' AND CIRL8 CLUB WORK IN MILLARD COUNTY. Prof. J. C. Hogenson, State Leader In club work for Utah Agricultural College and the U. S. Department of Agriculture, has spent the past week In Millard County in company with Dr. R. J. Evans, State Leader in Farm Demonstration Work, and Mr. J. P. Welch, Farm Demonstrator for Millard County, organizing boys' and Girls' clubs in the schools of Millard County. These clubs are now organized In practically every school In the county. There are now about 17,000 boys and girls in the club work In the State of Utah. The plan of the work Is this: Iw each school where enough are Interested Inter-ested a boys' club and a girls' club are organized, with president, vice-president and secretary. The boys who join tho club promise that next season they will grow one-half acre of one of the'followlng crops: Potatoes, sugar beets, mangoes, onions, peas, cabbage, or cucumbers, or raise poultry. They promise to do all of the work on the half acre themselres and to keep a record of all work done so that next fall they will knovi how much It has cost themto produce their crop. The girls who Jolu the club promise to take up one or more of the following lines of work: UieU making, flower garden, sewing or canning of fruit and vegetables. Circulars dealing with all of the above lines of work sre sent free to all those who Join the clubs. In the fall a local contest Is held at the school and those four boya who havs succeeded In getting the greatest profit from their half acre of ground win the local prizes. Those four girls who have dons their work best during the year also win local prizes. Tbs local winners then compete com-pete with the winners from all of the other schools la the county for county prizes and finally, those who win In the county compete with tire winners from other counties for ststs prizes. This year about $1,000 worth of .prize were distributed among the boys and girls of the stats. The grand sweepstakea prizes being s free trip for the boy and girl to Washington. Washing-ton. D. C The club work movement has for Its object the Interesting of the boys and girls la the common things of life, farm work and home work.
