Show Holden Happenings All young people wishing to catch the matrimonial contagioun had better come to Holden. The county clerk has issued a number num-ber of marrage license this week. The happy participants are Amanda Stephenson and Carl Johnson, Eva Stephenson and Wells Johnson, Lillias Crosland and Bruce Johnson, Florence Wood and Elbert Stephenson, Vilate Stephenson and Glen Kenny, and Lillian Paul and Clyde Wood. Miss Elza Hunter, Otto Hunter and Burton Badger left Saturday morning for Provo where they will attend school. Next Tuesday Tues-day several others will leave for the same purpose. Among them will be Mr. and Mrs. Glen Kenny, Ken-ny, Ira Nixon, Lucile Kenny and Orrin Stevens. Mrs. Pauline Hughes and daughter, Agnes, former residents resi-dents of Holden, are recent visitors. Friday night Sep, 22, Benjamin Benja-min Kenny and son, Glen, gave the community a rare treat. They served a delicious supper, which was followed by a dance and program. The event being Mr. and Mrs. Kenny's twenty fifth wedding anniversary and the celebration of Glen's recent marrage. They were presented with some beautiful silver presents. pres-ents. Saturday Sep. 16th, the Walters Wal-ters Stock Co. presented "Cori-anton" "Cori-anton" to a large and appreciative appreci-ative audience. Mr S. Smart - .presented, .an ex-cellent ex-cellent picture show last Thufs-' day night. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Brown of Scipio, are here visiting Mrs. Brown's father and their host of friends. William Pace of Delta is a business visitor here. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shaw of Elsinore, are guests at the home of their brother, Frank Shaw. Mrs. Iva Stewart of Meadow is here visiting her mother, Mrs. Ellen Turner- Miss Bertha Stevens is visiting her sister, Mrs. Florence Roberts of Kanosh. A number of the town students stud-ents attending the M. II. S. are home on a short visit. Among them are Luella and Elva Teep-les Teep-les and Hart and Louise Johnson. John-son. Mr. and Mrs. George Stephenson Stephen-son motored to Gunnison to visit Mrs. Stephenson's mother. Mr. Elbert Stephenson will' leave Monday, Sep- 25th, for a three years mission in the Netherlands. Neth-erlands. The town people wish him success and the best of luck while laboring in the war zone. F. W. Bean of Lynndyl was here Sat, Sep. 23, and organized a Woodrow Wilson Club, with a membership of fifty eight. Officers Of-ficers elected were Mark Johnson, John-son, president and Mrs. Amanda Johnson secretary. The object of the meetings are both social and political, and are intended to be perpetual. Mr. Bean reports re-ports having met with great success throughout the county-Mrs. county-Mrs. Fred Dewsnup of Deseret, has been a recent visitor at the home of her parents Mr- and Mrs. Will Wood. The light frost we had the first of the month, affected things very little as the tomatoes and melons are still ripening. Mrs. Delia Hunter has gone to Manti to attend her sisters' wedding. |
