Show Simplicity of the Fathers. Mrs. Everett M. Raynor of New York, president general of the Daughters Daugh-ters of the Revolution, said a luncheon lunch-eon : "There are many anecdotes in illustration il-lustration of the simple living of th Fathers. "One of our country's pre-Revolu-tionary fathers had occasion to call on the governor of his province, and was invited to stay to luncheon. "Luncheon began, and a liveried servant moved busily about, serving Ihe wine, caning the fowl, and so forth. "The guest watched Ihe servant for some minutes, and then said to hiro irritably: " 'What are you dance, dunce, dancing danc-ing about the room for, man? Cun't you pull up a chair nnd sit downT Surely there's enough for the three of us.' " Maybe. "Reforms arc being carried on everywhere every-where just now." "Yes, and after we have reformed some of our reforms we will probably have matter in pretty good shapef again." |
