Show j the growth and prosperity of ' fa.-' Vegas than any other thing i which has been undertaken. I-a.-s Vegas Age. Arrowhead Route the Best Yet . "Cactus Kate II" the twin six Packard, which has been used by Chas. II. Bigelow, L. K. Devvein and Louis Nikrent, in exploring and logging the ' All-the-Year automobile route between Los Angeles and Salt Lake, reached Vegas last ..Saturday evening on the return trip from Salt Lake." They report that the trip has been a most successful one. At all places the party has been received re-ceived with enthusiasm and promises of loyal support for the work of putting the road "on the map" have been made by the people, of every town between Las Vegas and Salt Lake. Mr. Bigelow reports that the route is by far the best of any road leading from the east to California. The road is already in a passable condition for the whole distance, and except for 1 some few short stretches, is in excellent condition for travel. There are no high altitudes to pass and no long reaches of difficult dif-ficult or sandy road to cross. As to scenery and romantic and historic interest the route is unsurpassed. It takes the traveler travel-er within easy distance of the wonderful Little Zion Canyon, a rival of the Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon of the Colorado may be easily reached at its wildest and . most impressive parts. .Along the road itself, the scenery is full of admirable features to hold the interest of the tourist at all times. The journey of Cactus Kate II and her party has been of great benefit to this project. It has given "The Arrowhead Trail" as . the Los Angeles-Salt Lake route . is coming to be called, such pub-. pub-. licity in the daily papers of both . these cities as it has never be- fore received. Many columns of descriptive matter with illus- . trations have been printed and motorists are generally awakening awaken-ing to the many advantages which will come from opening this road as a route of travel. While there are still many things to be done and considerable consider-able money to be spent in certain places, the road today is in better bet-ter condition for travel than some of the better known routes. With the splendid publicity which has been given to the project pro-ject thru the efforts of Mr. Bigelow, Bige-low, and by the aid of the organization or-ganization which he expects to perfect, linking the various communities com-munities along .the route into concerted action, the enterprise will be greatly benefited. Vegas was the originator arid promoter of the Los Angeles, Salt Lake auto road and it is with considerable pride that we see the efforts of several years ripening ripen-ing into the consummation of a great enterprise which, in the near future, will do more for |
