Show are cordially invited to attend. About a dozen guests consisting consist-ing of the District school teachers teach-ers and some of the Academy teachers and graduate students assembled at the home of Dr. Broaddus. It was a "get acquainted" ac-quainted" party. Music and pop corn were served. Hinckley Happenings. A rousing Democratic rally was held here last week. Mr. Bamberger and his party entertained enter-tained the audiance with speeches, speech-es, songs and jokes. They certainly cer-tainly made a big "hit" so far as their jokes were concerned, as the people report having a most laughable time. There is to be a Republican rally here Wednesday, Oct. 18th. We are anxious to hear their side of the story now that we have heard the Democrat's. Politics Pol-itics seems to be the main issue of the day, judging from the large crowds that assemble in front of the stores and blockade the sidewalks so that ladies are obliged to force their way past. Even when the rain was pouring in torrents, they still stood in the streets and loudly declared their views about politics. There will be peaceful days after election. elec-tion. , Thomas Pratt is having a cement ce-ment cellar and a number of new rooms added to his old residence. Chas Stratton and wife took a trip to Dixieland last week. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hinckley ire here visiting friends. Allen Stout and wife, also Mr. ind Mrs. Chas. Webb, have just returned from Salt Lake. Mr Webb has been serving on the Grand Jury. The students of the 7th grade gave a surprise peanut shower for Mr. Beal. A new baby has arrived at the home of Mrs. Maude Westover. Also, a new girl at Mrs. John Jacobs'. . Mr.-- Naomi Theobald died Monday night. She has lived in Hinckley 29 yrs., and was" one of the first to settle here. The people of Hinckley will certainly miss her as she was always such a good faithful friend to everybody. every-body. The young people that have been getting married for the last 3-4 years were taught by her in the Kindergarten class in Sunday School. Her casket was strewn with a most beautiful floral display. The speakers were Pres. Hinckley, Bishop Pratt, Frank Pratt and W. E. Robison. They all gave a like sentiment of Sister. Theobald's integrity and worth. She was 52 years old, and has taught in the Sunday School 25 years and was a worker in the Relief Society 20 years. At the last H. E. A. meeting held Oct. 13, the election of new officers took place. Mrs. Broaddus Broad-dus was unanimously re-elected with Mrs. Ryan as her vice-president- Mrs. Neely Sec'y-Treas-urer and Mrs. Nelson her assistant. as-sistant. Mrs. Welsh chairman of program committee, Mrs. Jackson chairman of Entertainment, Entertain-ment, and Mrs. Jane Pratt chairman of the Civics work. Miss Hettie White, the H. E. A. demonstrator, conducted the re-election and afterwards spoke of the splendidly efficient work that had been done by the H. E. A. in one year, said that we were right to the front and doing as much or more than the similiar organizations in other parts of the state that had been organized for a number of years. The next meeting will be held at Mrs. Broaddus' Oct. 27, at 3j o'clock, p. m. All the members |
