Show Cautions Farmers Against R. C. Agts. The following statement is being be-ing sent out by the head of the Weber County Farm Bureau which is taking an active interest inter-est in the promulgation of Farm Loan associations among its members: As a result of the numerous attempts at-tempts to interest farmers of this and other counties of the state in private farm loan associations associ-ations since the passage of the federal farm loan act, D. D: McKay, Mc-Kay, . president of the Weber County Farm Bureau, has issued a warning against farmers taking up with such institutions. In some instances, according to the farm Bureau official, the association associ-ation promotors actually misrepresent misre-present conditions. "Smooth-tongued agents 'go about the country with various kinds of plausible stories," said Mr. McKay today, "the loan board has promised them and their organization a charter as a joint stock land bank immediately. immediate-ly. They will be able to loan money under such charter, the agent glibly informs the farmer, months ahead, of the' government itself. "I want to warn farmers not to be deceived in this matter. Reliable information has come to the bureau that no joint stock land bank will be given a charter char-ter until every loan association organized by the farmers themselves them-selves has'lbeen taken care of, which likely is to be two years or more. This is to encourage the farmers to take care of their own business and to obtain the profit therefrom. "There is one-other thing also: ' The farm loan board has issued a warning to farmers to take no stock in any loan association which permits any of the money coming into its organization to be used for promotion purposes. The board in such cases will not issue a charter under any circumstances." |
