It was not statec on the program who should take i the flag down. Geo. W. Cropper, who has the management of one of the largest larg-est cattle ranches in Northern Arizona, arrived home the morning morn-ing of the Fourth. Mr. Cropper ; will remain but a short time. It is said that Geo. A. Hone wilt, in the near future, put on a force at the Martha mine out in the Drum district. This is said to be one of the best in the hills west. Jno. R. Bennett, county road supervision motored over to Fillmore Wednesday. S. M. Hawley, the well known mail contractor, carried about six tons parcel post, from Oasis to Fillmore last Sunday. J. C. Hawley, one of Oasis' successful farmers and of the firm Damron and Hawley, Des-eret, Des-eret, drives a new Studebaker Gear. Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Peterson of FiUmore, were visitors for a few days, including the Fourth, with Mrs? Albert Hales. At the Moody Hotel this week were. M. M. Johnson of Salt Lake and Geo. A. Hone of Benji-man, Benji-man, Ut. C. L.. Stnbbins, manager of the Alpha Farms Co., suspended work at the farm for a few days vacation, while he, Mr. Carey,. Mr. Johnson and others were guests at the Moody Hotel. Mr. Stephan spent Independence Independ-ence Day in Provo. . Mr. aiid Mrs. James Bennett are out at the Alpha farm for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Olsen are back for the first time since theirmarriage which took place in Salt Lake City last April. Mrs. Olsen will be remembered Deseret Doings While there was nothing startlingly new about our Independence In-dependence Day celebration it was generally decided that the program given at the church in the morning was one of the most fitting and patriotic heard here in many years, - carrying as its aid, not alone the spirit of '76, but the one thot that prevades the nation at the present time. Miss Inez Western as Liberty, Donald Moody as Orator, Jas. Passey us Uncle Sam, ..Mrs. Ava Bennett with a vocal number, short period with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Allred. W. R. Black; who, in connection connec-tion with Bishop Maxfield of Delta, has been in charge of the work at the big reservoir, returned re-turned last week after a three month's absence. Mr. Black says unless one saw the dam under un-der construction it would be impossible im-possible to estimate the immense amount of labor arid money that has been expended there. The dam alone with complete cement core and facing is 90 feet high 700 feet deep, and 1200 feet long wilh 30 feet surface top. Miss Olive Cook entertained about 20 of her friend at a lawn party Sunday afternoon. Dainty refreshments were served and an enjoyable time was had by all. Dr. F. L. Kimball and son Marion, came up the first of the week from Los Angeles for a visit with the Dr's son Don. Dr. Kimball returned home Thursday Thurs-day but Marion will remain with his brother for some time. as Miss Gladys Western, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Western, West-ern, Sr. We have prospects of welcoming the Olsens as permanent perma-nent settlers. Miss Verna Robinson of Fillmore Fill-more is spending a few weeks with her sister, Mrs. F. J. Elia-son. Elia-son. Norma Damron accompanied accompani-ed her grandparents to Poca-tello, Poca-tello, Idaho, last week. Miss Vernell Moody is visiting in Milford with Mrs. Harrington. Friends of Mrs. Victoria Christensen will be surprised to learn that she has severed her connections with the Groves L. D. S. hospital, where for years she has been a favorite nurse. Mrs. Christensen will be at home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. V. Black for a month when she will return to Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Scott spent the Fourth with Mr- Scott's mother at Murray. Mrs. Ohas Knell of Pinto, Washington county, is visiting with her sisters, Mrs. Amanda Kelly and Mrs. Eli.ebeth Proctor.
