Show Insects Threaten Farm Crops in '45 Insects should be watched, and control measures applied promptly -where crop injury threatens. Bait Stations will be opened on Tuesdays Tues-days of each week. Manpower shortages, scarcities of some insecticides, and building up of pests in areas where control has been neglected during recent years are some of the reasons that farmers and home gardeners must be alert to protect crops from insect in-sect injury. For effective results in insect pest control, the following suggestions are given- 1. Know definitely what kind ot pests you want to control. 2. Apply sprays or dusts at the proper time, not earlier and not later; la-ter; 3. Use correct mixtures; 4. Apply sprays or dusts thoroughly. thor-oughly. Many insecticides must actually ac-tually contact the body of the insect in-sect to kill it; 5. Do not dust or spray into the blossoms. Avoid killing honeybees and other beneficial insects. |
