Show Verland Willden, son of Mrs. Mildred Willden, was inducted Into the army, May 20, 1946, at Fort Douglas, Utah. Pvt. Willden Is now stationer! at ( Fort Lewis, Washington, to receive bis basic training. Married In Manti Temple Miss June Memmott, of Oasis, and Spencer Lane Shlrtz, of Dolta, were married in the Manti Temple Thursday June 20th. The brides parents and the mother of the groom accompanied them to the Temple to witness the marriage. A sister of the bride, Mrs. Alice Adams and husband, Frank Adams, of Salt Lake City, were also at the Temple to see the young couple married. After the ceremony was performed perform-ed a fine dinner was served at the home of Alfonzo Henrie to the following fol-lowing guests: Mr. and Mrs. Lane Shurtz, Mrs. Stella Shurtz, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Memmott, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adams, Mrs. P. M. Lundgreen, Mrs. Eldon Van Buren, and Mrs. Phil Hansen. The young couple left Manti for a short honeymoon. They intend making their home in Sugarville. . . 22 June 1946:-SSgt. Shirley B. Pace, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Pace, Delta, Utah, has been discharged dis-charged from the Army at the Ft. Douglas Separation Center. Sgt. Pace, who served 17 months overseas as a Clerk-Typist with the 73rd Ordnance Co., is authorized to wear the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with three battle stars, A Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Vic-tory Ribbon. He was inducted into the Army July 14, 1944. Shirl Black, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Black, celebrated his sixth birthday at a party on Monday afternoon, aft-ernoon, June 24. Fifteen young guests were present. Games were played and a birthday lunch was served.. Shirl returned to Delta a week ago from Salt Lake City, where he has been treated for burns on his legs, from an accident in January. Mr. and Mrs. John Craft from Denver, Colorado, and Mrs. Lottie Black, from Provo, visited over the weekend with their aunt, Mrs. Zada Dewsnup. Mrs. Emily Young is in Salt Lake City taking vocal training from Prof. Alberti of New York City. Mr. Alberti is at John Mario's studios where he will be for two weeks giving lessons to advanced students. stu-dents. Mrs. Young is also taking a conducting course from John Mario. Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Morley returned re-turned this week from a trip to Cedar City and Las Vegas. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Walch and Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Pace attended the 38th annual convention of the Utah bankers association at Grand Lodge, on Friday and Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Orran Ashby spent Thursday and Friday in Cedar City where they attended the 24th annual an-nual convention of the Utah Lions. Mrs. Norma Hansen and family and Mrs. Zada Dewsnup visited in Orem, Utah, last week with Mrs. Edna Torrens and Mrs. Stanley Chynoweth. Mrs. Earl Huffine is spending this week on a trip to Oklahoma with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hessick and duaghter, Linda. Niel Heyborne left for Provo on Sunday evening where he will spend the week. Nola Heyborne left for Dillon, Montana Monday, where she will join Mr. and Mrs. Grant Church & family and make a trip thru the park and various other places before be-fore returning. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Hale and their three children from Logan, are visiting vis-iting in Delta with Mrs. Hale's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Stapley. Mrs. Alfred Bishop and her granddaughter, both from Trout Creek, visited in Delta and Oasis this week. Also accompanying them were her son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Holman of Gandy. They were all at Oasis at the wedding ceremony for Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Johnson of Oasis on Monday. Misses Mary Peterson and Josephine Jose-phine Mortensen, who have spent the past month here, returned on Monday to San Francisco. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gordon left the first of the week for Los Angeles, where they will spend a week. Garth Cahoon, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Cahoon, left Delta last week to go to California for his discharge from the navy and was put in the hospital there as he had come down with scarlet fever. Mr. and Mrs. George S. Boyack, who have been in Salt Lake for some time, and their son, Ray, from Fort Collins, Colo., came to Delta last Thursday to sell some of their house hold effects, and settle up their affairs here. Their son, George Boyack and wife, came down Sunday to take some things with them. Mr. and Mrs. Boyack plan on going to Berkeley California, for Mr. Boyack's health, until the housing in Salt Lake eases up. It's even hard to find an appartment at present. |
