Show Garden Clubs Meet in Murray At Convention While the Lions Clubs of the State were holding a 3 day convention con-vention at Cedar City, The Garden Clubs of "The Utah Association'" held their 12th annual convention at Murray June 23, 1946. Mrs. David i L. Bowen, who has been State Historian His-torian and organizor for the past 8 years, was the general chairman. She states according to the records this has been one of the largest and best ones 'ever held. About 250 officers and delegates enjoyed a very fine banquet, program, reports re-ports etc. Mrs. Leroy Turpin, president presi-dent of the Murray club, president presi-dent W. H. Kellar and other officers offi-cers assisted. One of the fine points of the convention was nearly 10 new clubs recently organized had delegates and officers to report and enjoy the day. Mrs. Bowen and president W. H. Kellar, assisted assis-ted by other state officers and active ac-tive members, have tried to aid all clubs toward beautifying their homes and communities for the 1947 Centennial. We want to live up to the slogan, "Reside In Pride". We were so happy to have Mrs. Wanda Beckwith, president of the Delta garden club and five members mem-bers here. Also Mrs. Clair Stewart, of the Hinckley club. Other members of the Delta club attending the convention were: Melba Crafts, Mary Wright, Ruby Bunker, and Eddis Barben. Arch Barben drove the group up. |
