Show Mental Health Meet Stresses Useful Living Parents and teachers attended the "Mental Health and the Family" Fam-ily" conferences held Friday in Sutherland, Hinckley and Delta. The theme stressed was the development devel-opment of personality in children and their ability to get along with people. The purpose of education should be to prepare the student -for complete com-plete living and to be as useful as possible, prepared to assume res ponsibility was the principal theme The conference was sponsored by Millard county school district, under direction of Supt. A. M. Maughan, east and west Millard PTA councils, in cooperation with Utah State Mental Hygiene Association, Assoc-iation, Home Economics Division, and the Utah Department of Pub- lie instruction. Conference leaders were Arch M. Thurman, director, of pupil personnel, person-nel, Salt Lake City school district Dr. Eugene Bliss, assistant professor profes-sor of psychiatry, U. of U. medical school, Dr. I. N. Komer, chief psych ologist, U. of U. Dr. George Krom-hout, Krom-hout, M. D. Research Fellow, Dept. of Psychiatry, U. of U-, and Mrs. Imogene King, social worker. Miss Winifred Hazen from the state department de-partment was also present. |
