The shower was held at Marlene's home. The eighteen young guests spent the evening making a Brides-boo- k and show-ering the bride with lovely gifts. To Recite Vows In Temple Ilites Mr. and Mrs. Reed Talbot of Oak -- ity , announce the their marriage of daughter, Viola, to Mr. Afton Fawcett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rob- ert Fawcett. Jire Married In Florida Miss Ruby Lois Stephens and Sgt. Wesley Sampson, Jr. were mar ried June 7, at Cocoa Beach, Fla., according to word received by Sgt. Sampson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Sampson, of Delta. The young couple will make a home at Cocoa Beach, where Sgt. ' Sampson is stationed at Patrick AFB. Sgt. Sampson was in Delta this spring on furlough, following two years duty in Labrador. Wedding Is T Announced Mr. and Mrs. Lee Wilson an-nounce the wedding of their dau-ghter,' Kathryn to Jack Manis, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Manis. The wedding was performed by Bishop Walter L. Ekins, in the Wil-son home Saturday evening June 9, in the presence of the families and close friends. Eddie Manis, brother of the groom, stood as best man and Birdie Lou Allred was matron of honor. The new Mr. and Mrs. Manis will be honored at a reception and dance Friday June 15, at the Hinck ley gymn from 9 p. m. to 12. Everyone is invited. June Wedding Is Announced Mr. and Mrs. Sprigg B. Davis, of South Gate, Cal., annouice the approaching marriage of their dau ghter, Connie Darlene, to Mr. Ray L. Turner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reuben L. Turner, of Delta. The ceremony wil take place Thursday, June 21. The young couple will be honor-ed at a reception June 21, from seven until nine-thirt- y o'clock, p. m., at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred S. Turner, at Sutherland. Engagement Is Announced Mr. and Mrs. George F. Cham-berlain announce the engagement of their daughter, Blanche Viola, to Mr. Elden Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Anderson, of Levan. The wedding ceremony will take place Friday, June 29, in the Manti temple. The young couple will be hon-ored at a reception in Delta high school gymnasium following the ceremony, and depart later on a wedding trip. They plan to make a home for the present at Big Pin-e- y, Wyoming. The bride-to-b- e has been teach-ing for the past two years at the AC, and prior td""u.t taught at the BAC and Nephi. Mr. Anderson a veteran o'f World War II, was graduated from the AC a year ago and for the past year has been doing post graduate there. Mrs. Lula Pearson, Mrs. lone Dal ley and Mrs. Emily Bunker at-tended the regional meet of Rep-ublican ladies' clubs Saturday at Mt. Pleasant at the Overland Hot-el. They attended the luncheon, and sessions to follow, and Mrs. Bunker was one of the speakers, with a five minute talk on "It is fun to raise funds - or it is?" Mrs. Loa Black was elected district pre-sident at the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie D. Pace are again in Delta, after a stay of several months in California. They will return to their new home in Salt Lake City in several weeks. Mrs. unnstie Sumner and daugh- ter of Pioche, Nev., and Mrs. Floyd Bishop and daughter visited a cou-ple of days last week with Mr and Mrs. M. C. Dutson. Miss Garnee Moody, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Garn Moody, left for California Saturday for a visit of several weeks. SAILED FOR JAPAN . . . Pvt. Ralph D. Erickson sent word to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Erickson, of Sutherland that he sailed for Japan, June 6, from Seattle Wash. He will be on the water 21 days. We wish Ralph lots of good luck and a speedy return home. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Walch and Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Pace attended the bankers' convention held in Ogden on Sunday and Monday. Shipley Sunday evening services had as speakers Norman Gardner and Claude Warner from Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Warner sang two numbers, which all enjoyed. A fireside chat followed for the young people at the home of Clarence Nielson. The family of the late Caddie Lovell held a reunion Saturday in the canyon. Present were Alvin Lovell, Reed Lovell and family, Clisbee Lovell and family, Allen Lovell , Curtiss Vaudrey and fam-- I ily, Reed Vincent and family, Dean Roberts and family, LeRoy Ander-son and family, and James How-ard and family. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Stuart and little daughter, Sharon, visited his ; mother at Scipio last week. Wesley Shipley and Evan Swen- - r sen visited in Oak City Saturday, and Sunday. Virginia, LaRue and Jessie Swen-se- n returned home to Salt Lake with them Sunday. They have sp-ent two weeks in Oak City visit-ing. Mrs. Amy Faust and son, Rex, and Mrs. Ella Hoover visited sever-al days in Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nielson had their son, Byron and family, visit the past week. Mrs. Wanda Nielson and Mrs. Leona East are staying with their father, E. Q. Dutson for a short time. Richard Finlinson had his 'friend Paul Evans, visit him the past week. His home is at Spanish Fork. He is a returned missionary from the Western States Mission. Mrs. Clara Talbot had her daugh ter, Nelda and family from Texas to visit. Reece Finlinson is home on fur-lough from Fort Riley, Kansas. Margaret Willis visited relatives for several days. |
