Show Submarine British Test Robot Subs MADRID, Spain Spanish newspapers have reported the British are experimenting with a revolutionary crewless submarine subma-rine in the waters off Gibraltar. Some dispatches in the newspapers news-papers report that although the British admiralty is cloaking the project in secrecy, the submarine subma-rine has dived to the greatest depth yet achieved anywhere in the world. The newspapers also report that the French navy is experimenting experi-menting with a new type submarine subma-rine that uses water for fuel. Water is decomposed into hydrogen hy-drogen and oxygen in a high temperature chamber heated by kerosene. The two gases are then propelled into the engine where they are ignited. This type engine fuel is not entirely new. In Sweden, water is used as fuel on some trucks and has been found to be a 50 per cent saving over other types. |
