Show Hinckley Mrs. ilarriet Spendlove Home for the week end from Dixie college were Jeff Carter, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Carter; Lola Wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Wright; and Mary Moody, daughter of Bryant Moody. Mr. and Mrs. J. Leslie Wright and family and Mr. and Mrs. Evan Theobald and family of Provo were Sunday visitors at the home of their father, John Ed Wright, who was celebrating his birthday with open house at the family home. During the day many friends and relatives from the neighboring towns called to give their best wishes to Mr. Wright on his 80th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Damron and their son, Michael, were Pro- vo visitors last Monday. In Salt Lake on Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Nielson, who went through the Salt Lake Temple. Tem-ple. Last Wednesday evening Mrs. Melba Nielson entertained at a birthday party for her daughter, Carolyn, on her eighth birthday. Following school that day she had many of her friends come to play games and enjoy refreshments at the party. The M. I. A. has now begun on practices for a Christmas cantata, which will be presented just prior to Christmas. It is being directed by the ward music directors, Mrs. Ivy Allred and Mrs. Forrest Mer- servy. Mrs. Belva Morris was hostess to the Literary Club at her home on Monday evening. Sebrina Ekins reviewed re-viewed the book, "The Bright Design" De-sign" by Katharine Shippen, which is a story of the scientific discoveries discov-eries which led up to the discovery of the splitting of th atom. ' Hugh Hilton is now in Salt Lake City at the L. D. S. hopsital, having hav-ing had a major operation last Thursday. Mrs. Hilton was with him until Sunday when she came back to her home in Hinckley. After being released from the hospital hos-pital he will spend a while at the home of his daughter and her fam ily, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Green, where he can visit his doctor while recuperating. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moody have moved into the Juel Moody home for the winter. Paul is the son of Edgar Moody, formerly of Deseret and who is now living in California. Californ-ia. Mr. and Mrs. Juel Moody have been living temporarily with his daughter, Lucille Stephenson, but they plan to spend the winter in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. William Stapley have been Hinckley visitors the past week. Mrs. Lois Wilson entertained at her home for the Rook Club last Wednesday. Members present to enjoy a delicious dinner followed follow-ed by an evening of card playing were Thora Petersen, Belva Morris, Nina Mecham, Bertha Love, Dol-pha Dol-pha Bishop, Manon Robison, Angie Pratt, Helen Shurtliff, Arvilla Swen sen, Ruth Talbot and Roma Ekins. Ek-ins. Special guests were Joy Hurst Melba Nielson, Alice Bliss, Dorothy Buffington and Joan Moody. Thora Petersen held the high score, with Nina Mecham holding second.High guest was Melba Nielson, and Joy Hurst held low score. Sunday evening the services were given by the Elementary School teachers, with Ward Spendlove in charge. Talks were given by Phyllis Bennett, Mr. Hebert, Mrs. Fannie Hilton, and Mr. Spendlove. Melba Western, accompanied by Ruth Talbot sang a solo and Mrs. Forest Merservy gave a vocal solo, accompanied by her husband. Prior to the turning of the time over to the school, Betty Mecham gave a talk , representing the LDS Girls' Group. |
