L Rawlins the present present present pres pres- ent campus site was was obtained by an act of Congress At the same time a bill was introduced to change the name of the University of Deseret to the University of Utah This bill became a law at that session of of- the legislature states The uThe Alumnus for 1921 With an appropriation of from the state legislature the Physical Science Building The Liberal Arts Building and the Industrial Education Building were begun in 1899 With part of the same appropriation lawns and trees trees' were upon the grounds The work was completed ed in 1900 Fraternities Admitted During the administration of Dr i used in building the building the shells of Villiam William William Wil Wil- liam M. R Park Memorial Building At that time an assembly of all aU old students stu- stu dents was held under the direction of President followed by a march of the alumni together with the former regents and teachers and a program in the newly completed completed completed com com- Gymnasium A service at Dr Parks Park's grave and a banquet at night concluded the ceremonies A prominent event in the history of the University since Dr George Thomass Thomas's i inauguration in 1921 was the completion of Kingsbury Hall RalI in the spring of 1930 at a cost of Work York on the Union building begun in 1928 is now nearing completion This building when finished will cost in all |
