Wesley D. Evans, of Salinas, Cal., as a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Clark liss, for the pheasant season. Mr. and Mrs. D. T. Cox, Delta residents for many years, and now in Provo, visited in Delta last Wed. with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Dalton, re-luming to Provo Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunsaker, and baby, from Ruth, Nevada, sp-ent the pasl week in Delta; re-turning to Nevada Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Oz Wilcox returned to their home in Idaho last week, after a visit in Delta wilh Mrs. Wilcox' sisters, Mrs. Nell Watsan, and Mrs. Clara Savage, of Anti-mony, and brother, Clark McCull-oug- Earl Dorius and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Dorius, from Salt Lake, were weekend visitors for the pheasant hunt. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Chesley, and family, from Los Angeles, were visitors during the pheasant seas-on in Fillmore, and in Delta with Mr. and Mrs. Dale Pearson and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Chesley. They re-turned to their home in California Sunday night. Abraham Ward Sorvos Vonison Last Friday night Abraham ward entertained ward members at a venison dinner and Hallowe'en party. Seventy guests were served venison and other tasty dishes. Hal lowe'en decorations were used in the hall and on. the dinner tables, which were lit by candles. Mrs. Eleanor Murray was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. .and Mrs. Max and Thompson children, from Salt Lake, spent the past weekend in Delta, visiting Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Wri-ght. Mrs. Thompson is Mrs. Wright sister. Mr. Thompson went pheas- ant hunting while here. Talhot Family Elolds llouiiioii The family of Clara E. Talbot held a family reunion Sunday, Oct. 31, ut her home in Oak City. The family was organized .and com-mittees were elected for various duties. I.orin Talbot was elected president, with Mrs. Edwin Skeem as vice president, and Mrs. Basil Talbot as secretary and treasurer. A lunch was served, followed by a short program, and pictures were taken. Mrs. Talbot is the mother ofl3 children, eleven of whom are still living. She has 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. ' Lyiuitlyl M. I. A. Holds Annual Costume Ball The annual Lynndyl Hallowe'en costume ball took place on the night of October 30. A large crowd of people attend-ed, dressed in costumes of all kinds Prizes were awarded to the best costumes. Those receiving prizes: 1st, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sinle; 2nd Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Wright: 3rd, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Clark; Eloise Aitkin was given a prize for her costume of "Rumplestiltskin". Ann-ette Smith was awarded a prize for her Mexican outfit. The Hall was decorated by Mrs. Marie James and Mrs. Thelma Clark. The music was supplied by the Oak City Orchestra. Cider and Spudnuts were served for refreshments. Confetti & noise makers helped make the night com plete. Mr. and Mrs. Heber Walkins took Terry Lee Wilkins to Salt Lake on Saturday, to fly to San Fran-cisco to resome her duties in the Federal Reserve Bank, where she J has been employed for six years. She has been here for two weeks A on her vacation. ' J I Lynndyl , Mrs. Rachel Simpson Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Clark and son returned to Burbank, Calif. Sunday after having spent two weeks visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Clark and Mrs. Hilda Clark. Friday Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Clark and Mrs. Hilda Clark spent the day in Salt Lake visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Home and family. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sim-so- n spent the dav visiting Mr. and Mrs. Elward Clark. Friday evening Miss Janeane Simpson arrived from Salt Lake to spend the weekend with her par-ents Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Simpson. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Whatcott of Provo spent the weekend in Oak City and with Mr. and Mrs. Irving Whatcott. Mrs. Effie Allen who has been spending a week in Cedar City with her husband met with an accident and sprained her ankle. She is expected to arrive home Monday. Mrs. Jean Jeffers went to Los Vegas Friday where she will visit friends for a few days and then will go to Los Angeles for a few weeks visit. Mrs. Mary Coon and daughter Judy of Salt Lake were guests at the Jeffers home. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mills went to Richfield to hunt pheasant. Mrs. Bill Simpson and Paula spent Friday in Oak City with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Leland Roper. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Dutson, who have recently moved to Provo were here over the weekend. The Primary gave a Hallowe'en party for the children Thursday evening. Many entertaining games were played by the children. Re-freshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Simpson had as dinner guests Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sim?son, Mrs. Francis Pfeifer and two sons Raymorf and Neil, Mrs. Roley Larsen of Nephi, and Janeane Simpson and Family. Mr. and Mrs. Grayson Roper spent Friday in Oak City and Delta Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Harlen Neilsen and children moved to Provo this week where Mr. Neilsen is employed. Mr. and Mrs. Oarlyle Gronning & children of Milford are here visit-ing wth Mr. and Mrs. Myron Vest and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Gronning. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Simpson and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Stewart of Oak City went to Salt Lake Tues-day shopping. The teachers and school children gave a spook party Friday after-noon at the school. Many inter-esting and spooky pranks were played and light refreshments were enjoyed by all the grades. Mr. Norman Johnsen of Salt Lake visited over the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Johnsen and Tillman, who came from Cedar City to join the hunt. Wednesday Mrs. Leland Roper and Mrs. Theo Stewart and daught er spent the day visiting Mrs. Nada Simpson and Mr. and Mrs. Gray-son Roper. Mr. and Mrs. Brant Wall were here over the week end. visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mc Cardel Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Smith and small daughter, Emily Ann were guest at the home of John's parents Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith. Miss Louise Wily of Springville, who is visiting here with her grand mother, Mrs. Sara Ann Wily, spent a few days in Delta with Anna Ivie and her many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Therto Wily and son, Gery, spent Sunday visiting in Oasis with Mrs. Wily's mother. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Freer have guests from Salt Lake, who are Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mallet. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Ogden of Provo visited with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mc Cardel. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Rosenbaum and daughter Cathy left for Calif. Friday where they will make their home. Miss Colleen Neilson land afriend visited her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ray Neilson. Mr. and Mrs. Dan McKellar and children of Magna visited Mr. and Mrs. John Talbott. Clyde Coleman is home for a few days. Mrs. Allen Vest spent a few days in Salt Lake with her hus-band. A state meeting honoring the ladies who contributed to the new church building in Salt Lake. There were fourteen ladies from Lynndyl there. A very interesting day was enjoyed. Sunday Bishop Clead Neilsen and Earl Greathouse were up in the air with Ralph Siple and his plane. HalloweVn Is Party TIbooblw! Mrs. Nell Callister was hostess to the Delta Art Club at a Hallo-we'en party last Thursday evening. Present were Amelia Cole, Donna Sorenson, Athena Cook, Wanda Pace, Loa Black, Callie Morrison, Violet Snow, Callie Morley, Alma Petersen and Romania Bird, club members, and Rayda Knight and Marianne Knox, guests. Each was costumed for the occasion, and a prize went to Mrs. Snow for the cleverest garb. The Hallowe'en motif was used in house decorations and at the dinner tables, with a favor for each guest. After dinner bridge was played, at which high scores were held by Mrs. Bird and Mrs. Pace, while Mrs. Morley held lew score. Mrs. Work-man says her son Sterling is in the mission field in South Africa, where his cousin, Merlin Work-man, of Delta, also served. Alth-ough the missionaries are both in South Africa, they hadn't met yet, but hope to soon. Pfe. Thomas Trains at Kessler P. F. C. George A. Thomas, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. H. Thomas, Delta, Utah, has reported to Kees-le- r Field, Mississippi to begin tra-nin- g in the Airplane. andEngine Mechanics School. The training PFC Thomas receiv-es in the school will extend over a period of approximately 28 weeks and will include instruction in air-craft electrical spstems, engine operations, fuel and oil spstems, propellers, structures, instruments and inspections. This training will qualify him to perform mainten-ance on all conventional type air-craft flown by the USAF. Mr. and Mrs. LaVee Peterson and son Gary, from Cedar City, and their father, Emory Peterson, and sister, Miss Mary Peterson, from Salt Lake, spent the weekend in Delta, visiting Mrs. Wanda Beck-wit- h and family Knut Endersen, who has been in Provo the past week, returned to Delta Saturday. MAE H. SHIPLEY The Seminary teacher, Samuel Chandler and his students, gave a very fine program Sunday night at sacrament meeting. The following relatives and fri-ends from Oak City attended the funeral services for Mark Bennett at Fillmore: Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis An-derson, Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. George H. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Jacobson, Mrs. Alice Jacobson, Joseph L. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Roper, Mr. and Mrs. Parley Roper, and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lovell. The farewell dance and party held Friday, October 29 for Elder Bryce Finlinson was well attended. He will enter the mission home Nov. 8th and then go to Uraguay, in the South Amercian mission. A good crowd attended and a large purse raised amounting to about $300. Mr. and Mrs. Milan Jacobson and family visited in Salt Lake City a couple of days. The Bee Hive class land leader had-- a Hallowe'en party at her home Friday evening. The guests were the members of Florence Lov-ell- 's and Emma Talbot's Mutual classes.. The spook room was en-joyed. The Junior Girls rose meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Basil Talbot, their teacher. The Primary held Hallowe'en parties last Thursday. The presi-dent and counselors were dressed as witches and served candy to everyone. v Mrs. Wanda Nielson from Clear-field, visited in Oak City a week. Mrs. George A. Faust and son, Esdras, were Oak City visitors. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Christensen spent the weekend in Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nielson and Miss Genevieve Anderson from Lo-gan visited in Oak City this week. Miss Edith Andesron was a visit-or in Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. Junius Anderson and Paul Finlinson from the BAC at Cedar, also Richard Christensen, visited with their folks this week in Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. George Shipley, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Shinley and child-ren, Geniel, Verna Mae. and Larry, visited Lee Shipley at Lynndyl for his birthday and ate birthday din-ner with them on October 27. Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Roper visited in Ogden a couple of days. Mr. and Msr: Joe Wells of Clear-field and children and Mrs. Nelda Shehan and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Tal-bot from Magna, also Mr. and Mrs. Noel Talbot spent the weekend the occasion being a family reun-ion at Mrs. Clara Talbot's Sunday, October 31. There were 55 people present. Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Roper have returned home from Salt Lake City, after spending about two weeks. Mr. Roper was in the hos-- pital for an operation. Mr. and Mrs. William Billingsley and family have returned to Salt Lake after being in Oak City the past two months at the home of Mr. a nd Mrs. Joseph Christensen. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Christensen visited in Blanding several days. Dan Roper of Caliente, Nevada pheasants and visit his mother arrived here Saturday to hunt Mrs. Wanda Roper and sister Dean and May Beth. Sunday Marilyn Hayes had a candy pull at her home. May Beth Roper, LaRae Greathouse, Crystal Nielson enjoyed the party. Miss Dawn Roper is staying in Oak City with her grandmother Mrs. William Aldridge who is quite ill. Mr. and Mrs. Parley Larsen of Nephi spent Sunday in Lynndyl visiting Janeane Simpson. Tuesday is very important day. Everyone will go to the polls and vote. We hope. It will be at the Lynndyl theatre as usual. Mr. and Mrs. Max Miner, and daughter Nancy, and friends, Geor-ge Johnson and his father, Joseph Johnson, from Salt Lake, spent the weekend visiting Delta, and went pheasant bunting. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Johnson, at Sutherland. Mr. and Mrs. Don Poulson, of Magna, were Delta visitors last week with Mrs. Boulson's parents Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Petty. |
