Show Our Congressman, The Ogdcn Standard In writing of candidates says: "As to Hon. Joseph Howell, ho deserves well of the people of Utah; he Is by no means a fluent speaker, yet he possesses hard common com-mon sense, which Is as uncommon In legislative Indies as brilliant and bewildering be-wildering oratory. Mr. Howell has, during his first term In congress, earned earn-ed the respect and good will of all Ills associates, and, on the very Important committees upon which he has served, and, by the way, where the real work of a congressman Is accomplished, lie ranks deservedly high. The people of Utah know Mr. Howell How-ell well, he has served a term In the state senate and his work there was characteristic of the man. No man who served with him In the state legislature leg-islature will deny that he is "levelheaded." "level-headed." Not easily swerved from his purpose, easy of access, alwajs seeking to do the best thing for all the people of Utah, courteous to all, tolerant of the opinions of all, he was never considered brilliant, but always conservative, reliable, useful, and faithful to the entire people of the state; neither did any one have any question as to the genuineness of Ills republicanism; he Is a republican, not from passion or prejudice, but because his reason tells him the principles advocated ad-vocated by that party arc best for the people of the state and nation; lie is in thorough accord with the policies of, and a firm supporter of the president; presi-dent; he has earned a re-election; his character Is above reproach; no one who supports the president and Ills policies can afford to vote against the clcar-bralncd, honest, courageous, upright up-right Joseph Howell for congress. |
