Show LOST BOY FROZE TO DEATH Asa Baker,4 of Mcndon, Found Dead Wednesday Wed-nesday Morning Near Deweyville. The tlcatl botly of Asa Baker, the Mcndon boy reported in the last Issue of Tun liKruiiLiOAN as lost In the mountains on the west side of the valley, was found Wednesday morning about live miles cast of Deweyville. The boy hud traveled on over the mountjiijS, and perished from hunger and cold. The report of bear tracks following those of the lost boy was erroneous. Went Out on Monday. As detailed In our last Issue jonng Maker, who was eighteen years of age, took his rlllc and on a horse, rode up Into what Is known as Deep canyon in a search for name. This was on Monday Mon-day morning. This joung fellow did not return In the evening and the wldjwcd mother left at home was alarmed. Nothing could bo dono that night, however, and the return of the boy's horse early Tuesday morning, started a number of men In search. They followed the trail of the horse to Deep canyon, noted where he had been tied and then followed the boy's tracks up the mouutian. Seachers Return. The seaichers followed the tracks till nightfall and these led them to the top of the ridge. Search at night was useless, and the party icturn-cd icturn-cd to Mcndon. Some thought young Maker might have gone over to Deweyville, Dewey-ville, but a telephone message brought word that he was not there. Body Is Found. The searching party went out again early Wednesday morning and live miles cast of Deweyville found the body of the boy cold in death. Without With-out footl since Monday morning and for forty-eight hours In the freezing weather, his must have been a terrible terri-ble experience. There Is no other explanation ex-planation than that the boy lost his way. A Shock. The news of the find was a terrible shock to the mother and other relatives rela-tives of the boy, as well as thoresld cuts of Mcndon and the whole of Cache Valley. Throughout the valley val-ley towns many Inquires of the search were made and the news of the boy's death excited sympathy everywhere. A brother of this boy was accldently killed In the Dakota something less than a year ago, and the blow comes doubly hard. |
