On the evening of May L'Oth the friends of John Hammer assembled at Wlihs Lcmmon's to the number of thlrty-tivc and proceeded to the Hammer Ham-mer home, as a surprise party, the event being John Hammer's 7"th birthday. Supper wassctved early In the evening, ice cieam and wine later. Mrs. 1'eteison and Mabel Halllday recited; re-cited; Mr. Smith, uf Logan, played selections on the violin; Geo. Douglas and wife saugseveralsongsand duetts; Rue Hammer played on the organ, and a Victor talking machine titled the rest of the evening with choice music. John Hammer iccelved his guests with surprise plainly shining on his tugged face, but heartily and with pleasure. A Jollv evening that lasted pretty near all night proved that all enjoyed the event to the utmost, and Mi. Hammer was one of the gavest. He Is one of the few remaining pionccisof our town and his frieuds number scores. May he. keep his place with us for many manv birthdays birth-days and that they may be as pleasant as the one Just passed is the wish of all of his friends. Wednesday night the school children chil-dren gave an entertainment In the tabernacle. Thursday night the 8th grade graduates gave a line program and were presented with their diplomas. diplo-mas.
