Show A week or more ago "the only" pub-llshed pub-llshed an alleged statement from Geo. Whltmorc of Ncphl, in which that gentleman was made to say that all southern Utah will go democratic this year. While In Salt Lake the other day, a representative of this paper met Mr. Whltmorc and Bishop Calllstcr, who arc pitted against each other for the oillce of senator In the next legislature. Ojr representative put the qucstU n sq larcly before them as to the outlcok In the south. They both mutually agreed that It would be very close and that so far as their two counties wore concerned there might not be over fifty votes between them. Each agreed, however, that he would have that advantage. It can be seen from the above that so far as Juab and Sevier counties arc concerned they are not overwhelmingly overwhelm-ingly democratic. The condition of Washington county was also discussed. discuss-ed. It was thought that there would bo republican gains. |
