Show The Valley of Mexico. Tho Valley of Mexico Is seventy I miles In length and forty-soven miles In width. Iiko Texcoco, a large body of water lying immediately to the east of the City of Mexico, Is only six feet lower than tho level of tho street pavements. In 1029 this lake rose nnd Inundated the city, drowning thousands of tho Inhabitants. The waters of the lako covered the site uf tho city to a depth of three feet, nm remained so for oj-er four years. This danger Is now obviated by a great drainage canal. |
