The Dublin correspondent of the Loudon Chronicle has bad the following follow-ing story from an olllelal at the Dublin Dub-lin Zoological (I"rdcn: One nf the little lit-tle raccoons a female apparently not feeling perfectly safe or comfortable nmong her own companions, scaled it wire lenco about thiee weeks ago and penetrated through the roof of the new Huberts House to seek lcfiige with the lions. She hid hcru'lf there so effectually that In spile of the most diligent search by the keepers she could not be discovered. Continuous search was made and dually the raccoon rac-coon was discovered by the night watchman wandering about the lion house. Willi some dlllleully she was secured, but It was discovered that during her sojourn In the lion house sho had given birth to n little raccoon, rac-coon, and bad handed It over for safe keeping to onn of tho lionesses, who. with the tender feeling peculiar to the Irish lions, took care of It until the keepers arrived In the morning, and allowed al-lowed them to remove It out of the cage Philadelphia Hecord. |
