Show The Great and "Only". In leferrlng to This Rkpuiilican's frequent assertions In regard to Mr. Edwards' bllllaid hall, the great and "only"sajs: "There are more serious violations of law than the one the 'patent' continually con-tinually harps about, but It can't see them because of Edwards." It will bo noticed that "tho only" admits that Mr. Edwards is violating tlio law, but takes the giound that ho Is Justified Justi-fied because theie aro "more serious" violations of law. On this reasoning, a thief should not be penalized becauso murder Is considered a "more sei Ions" crime than robbery. It would be Intciestliig to know what violations of law theie uie. In this city that aro more set Ions than the one of Mr. Edwards' which stilkes at the very foundation of morality. If there are such aw ful violations, why Is it that the self-confe.ised standard bearer of all that Is right and holy, the watch-dog of the city's treasury and "the only" organ to which the whole people may look for piotcctlon why is It that this organ Is not arrayed ar-rayed against these "moro serious" violations, seeking to relievo the honlble conditions? Now, watch "the only's" columns next Tuesday and note the long list of criminalities and criminals yet unpunished. That paper pa-per will name the violation, the date, the person, etc., and the principle involved in-volved in this billiard hall matter will (') sink into oblivion. |
