Show Salting the cows Is one of the little things that Is sometimes lost sight of under the pressure of other and what is rcgaidcd as more Important work, but a trial recently made at the Mis-slsslpl Mis-slsslpl Experiment Station indicates that inattention to tills point may be a rather expcnslvo oversight- Three cows were kept without salt for four weeks and their milk record kept during dur-ing the last two weeks of this period; then they wcro given the usual allowance allow-ance of salt for two weeks, and oh comparing the milk records it was found that the cows gave 4."4 pounds of milk during the tirst period when salt was withcld and 5(S4 pounds during dur-ing the second period when salt was furnished, a difference of 110 pounds of milk in two weeks In favor of salting. |
