Show IN WYOMING OIL FIELDS From The Republican's Special Correspondent at Evanston. Mil. Eni-run-Relieving as 1 do I the usefulness of the average newspaper, news-paper, in spreading the news anil disseminating dis-seminating truth, I was it little set back, r short time ago, when paying a visit to Utah, to learn that the oil Industry In-dustry of that state was being boomed, boom-ed, somewhat at the expense of truth, as relates to conditions that exists In this state. When asked as to the conditions existing ex-isting here, looking to the fulllllment of our predictions, that this Held is superior In every way both as to quantity quan-tity and quality of oil, I replied tint we were all right, which statement was accepted as a "huge Joke" (I copy this from the theatrical paper on tho wall). 1 was told that our Held was played out.we had no producing wells, etc., and than we were only laying for slickers. This and much irorc was dished up to mc In good style, a la newspaper. 1 have now determined to take "up my pen and write;" believing you will tell the truth as I give It to you, without any embellishment. Uinta County Is, without doubt, the best prospective oil Held in the country. In Will oil was Hist discovered discov-ered here and operations commenced, commenc-ed, In n small way, to demonstrate the worth of the discovery. That year the boom was started, by locating locat-ing land and organizing companies to get the capital necessary for its development. de-velopment. In 1002, active operations opera-tions were commenced, and tho most hopeful expectations measurably realized. real-ized. To-day we have eleven producing produc-ing wells and nine more In course of const ruction. Our llnished wells, without shooting, will produce from 00 to 200 barrells each per day, and when shot will, without doubt, double that output, Rulldlngs have been erected, storage tanks constructed, and everything done, that time and money could accomplish, In so short a time. The total expenditure up-to-date, in Spring valley and vicinity, exceeds one million dollars. The corporations cor-porations that have spent the major part of this money are made up of OU..MKN, who have made both fame and fortune, In the old Industry. 1 refer respectfully to .loe Chancellor, A. II. Hutlcr, C. A. Canlield, ct al, also the Hearst Estate, of California. I Well arc being sunk, every train from the cast, brings us carloads of machinery, the hum of business (Ills tho air, and we aic it. And now, a little weakling, that evidences his strength in a country newspaper, bobs up and buts in with this cnterrogatory, "why don't you ship some oil, and show usV" 1 don't answer, but being by nature endowed with "Cacoctliee scrlbendl" I reply to all your patient leaders as follows: To ship oil over the Union I'ncitlc Itallroad, requires the pull or all pulls, viz: "standing In." The company will supply tank cars that hold fiOOO barrels, If a tank can be tilled In one day, in other words, they will not sell out one of these cars, to be refilled at leisure. Again, our wells arc all pumping propositions and a pumping plant erected In the center of the wells will pump llfty wells as well as one or two. These are all matters of coiniueiclal Importance and the men behind the development of this Held arc alive to their Interests, and are keeping up their end. In consideration considera-tion of tho fact that to purchase a "rig" and sink a well to the depth of 1200 feet Involves an expenditure of about $10,000, to say nothing of the other expenses incidental, and the fact that we have twenty wells In the vicinity of Spring Valley, should keep the small Investors that have bought a few shares of- stock, from getl Ing "cold feet." In conversation with Mr. It. S. Spence, who is jwstcd on the situation, in this Held, as well as, or better than, any man here, he Informs me that this Held Is the most promising promis-ing of any new Held, and that, upon the best authoratatlve Information, a rellucry Is to be erected here in the early spring. He also Informs mc that Spring Valley Is not the only productive produc-tive part of the Held, but that down Hear River, on the Wyoming and Utah sides or the State line, oil has been encountered lately at depths ranging from 20 to 100 feet, and of the llnest quality. Our city Is now full of gentlemen from California and the East, laying plans and making purchases for the early spring work, a boom in land and stocks Is sure to come with the green grass, and such a boom that the Wall Street bears cannot alfeot or Interfere with.
