Show Newton News Notes NEWTON Nov 30. A convention of the school District comprising Mendon, Men-don, Petersboro, Clarkston, Trenton, Cornish and Newton was held last Friday, Fri-day, November 27, at 2 P.M., at New-ton New-ton for the purpose of electing one member of the County Board of education. edu-cation. Peter Larson of Mendon was named as chairman, and W. R. Ballard secretary. The roll was called and the following precincts, were represented; Mendon 5 delegates, P'tersboro 1, Clark ston 0, Trenton 2, Cornish 2, and Newton New-ton 0. Nominations were made as follows,; fol-lows,; Mendon, P. A. Sorensen; Clarkston, Clark-ston, J. B. Jardine; Newton, J. E. Griffin. After several times of voting J.'E. Griffin was duly elected, receiving receiv-ing 14 votes, P. A. Sorensen 0, and J. B. Jardine 2, making a total of 22 votes cast. The candidate was instructed instruc-ted to do nothing in favor of consolidation consolid-ation until the case In court was tin-ally tin-ally decided. Thanksgiving day was celebrated here with a dance for the children in the afterrojn, the Mendon orchestra furnishing the music. Miss Rebecca Jacobson of Logan Is visiting a few days with her relatives here. Heber Beck has nearly completed a neat little cottage. C. Johnson the mason Is now doing the plastering. Jacobson and Hansen, contractors and builders, furnished the material and Is doing the carpenter work. Mr. Wll-ford Wll-ford Jenkins has out specifications for a nice frame house. Our schools wcro never in a better condition then at present, Mr. Kirk-bride Kirk-bride of Smlthlicld is principle; Miss Mary Redford, of Logan and Miss Chrlstcnsen, of Newton are the teachers. |
