Show The Convention at Court House I Delegates Elected Thursday Evening-Old I Time Politicians on the List-Strongly I for Howell-Political Straws I A lino on tho political situation In Cache can bo had by a careful perusal of the delegates elected at the prl-marlcsThursday prl-marlcsThursday evening. There was no great amount of Interest manifest. Quiet meetings were held In most or thodlstrlcts, delegates were nominated, nominat-ed, elected and tho peoplo returned to their places or slumber. There was a tilt at Providence that nearly ended In a mix-up, It Is said, but the Providence republicans aro fighters at the primaries and conventions conven-tions but all rally together as soon as these are over and'get out and boost. The returns thus tar received from the various precincts follow: Uan. District No. 1 Jos. A. Wilson, Geo. Parkinson, John F. Wright. District No. 2 H. A. Pederson, Geo. H.'Thomas, J. C. Allen. District No. 10-Eph Clirlstensen, Peter Clirlstensen, Gottlieb Smith, M. J. Andrews, James McKiel. Wellsville. W. II Maughan, Norman G. Allan, John A. Leatham, Heber Parker, Alex M. Speuse, Jos. B. Brown, Ras. Rasmussen, Wm. Garrett. Richmond. H. Bullcn, Fanny Stoddard, Fred Whittle, John Johnson, J. L. McCar-rey. McCar-rey. Hyrum. Jet. Liljenqulst, W. C. Parkinson, Soren nansen, A. M. Israelsen, J. W. Jensen, William Squires, R. K. Allen, H. II. Pederson Sr., Moroni Benson. Providence. Jos. A. Smith, Alma Thcurer, C. M. Hammond, E. P. Hansen. Smilhfield. Robert Thornley, Mrs. Robert Thorn-ley, Thorn-ley, James Milllgan, James -J. Melkle, Bishop Winn, Samuel Nielsen, J. P. Toolsen, Mrs. Griniths, Mr. Plowman. A glaring exception to the truth of not-wlthout -honor save In his -own-country verse of scripture was brought out In tho selection of delegates at last Thursday's prlmarUs. The major part of the delegation has expressed Itself in favor ot retaining our present congressman and those, who have not done so aro known to bo friendly toward to-ward him, The fact Is that Logan and Cache county In general are proud of the record ot Congressman Howell. They realize how much he has accomplished accom-plished for the stalo and county and they feel that no other man could do so much. It Is only natural that having hav-ing secured a good man they should do all lntllelr power to see him continue con-tinue In an olllcc which ho Hills so ably. So strong Is this feeling that the following Incident occured. In ono of the precincts. There was a very small attendance and delegates had already been chosen unfriendly to Mr. Howell. Then arrived a body of voters vot-ers who asked for a reconsideration of the vote, obtained It, and elected a I delegation favorable to Mr. Howell. I It Is certain that the county conven- H tlon will be equally perspicuous and H that Mr. Howell will later secure the H state nomination which will, without I a shade ot doubt, mean election by an H overwhelming majority. H Tho Wellsvlllo precinct republican -I organization wa-, organized thus, H Thursday evening: Wm. H. Maughan, I chairman; A. B. Maughan, vloo-chalr- H man; and Ras Rasmussen, secretary. H D. R. Roberts Is making an active I campaign to secure the U. S. marshal- H ship provided the present incumbent H succeeds In landing the nomination H for governor on the republican ticket. I The many friends of Ole Sonne are I urging him to accept the nomination I of county sheriff. He certainly has I tho size and looks of a sheriff and the I smile that doesn't wear off. . I Providence thinks she Is In need ' I of a Tatt club. A meeting will bo I held Monday evening for the purpose I ot organizing. Jos. A. Smith Is rather- I lng the move. Tho republican primaries were con- I ducted very peacably Thursday even- fl log throughout the county from re- ;l ports and everything went off to the I satisfaction of all'conccrned. There ,1 Is no reason why the convention today -H should not be conducted in tho same I satisfactory manner and there Is every I reason to believe that It will. I Today Is registration-day. There I will be but five more days to get your I name on the list. They are the Oth, I 7th, i:tth, 27th and 23th of October. I |
