Show FACTORIf BLESSINGS. Onco again the blessings of a sugar factory fac-tory have been made tangible to Cache people, Inasmuch as last Tuesday the Amalgamated sugar company paid out here $120,000 for, beets. Putting this with the amounts paid by the same company in Ogden and Lewlston on the same day we find that'nearly half a million dollars were disbursed In one day In payment for beets. And this Is only one of three payments. The present access of cash in the valley Is most timely for It means a brisk Christmas tratk in Logan and homes happier everywhere for'the many com forts that come with increased finances. finan-ces. Logan's one sugar -factory-Is' making such a good showing that it is a pity we have 'not more ot these wealth producers. The growth of Logan Lo-gan has always been slow and steady as Is characteristic of an agricultural center. A few more factories would start a growth both beneficial and speedy. The day Is not far distant when Cache will bo as famous for Its. orchards as It Is now for its beets and wheat fields Then a canning factory will be a necessity. It would do ho harm to start it now, since, while we are waiting for the productive years ot the orchards, we have perfect conditions con-ditions as regards land, climate and water for raising green peas and asparagus. aspar-agus. These vegetables are in great demand at all times of the year and there is money in growing them for a . cannery. Ogden canneries have often been about the valley urging people to grow peas to sell them for their can nlng establishments, but the mistrust, conservatism aud apathy they .met with were far from encouraging. A canning factory might not mean such a large Influx of wealth as a sugar factory fac-tory but It would be a steady, dependable depen-dable means ot revenue, especially for Intensive farmers. Last summer we neglected a chance to secure the Cereal Food factory which Trenton now has. We need more business In our midst. We all want o see Logan grow. There Is no surer way of getting growth and business than by establishing factoiles' to utllie the valley produets. V |
