Show Sheriff Smith Gets Into Trouble Accused of Malfeasance in Office, and Case is to Be Pushed. A civil suit to oust Sheriff Thomas Smith from olllco has been tiled by County Attorney A. A. Law at the instigation of the County Commls-sloners, Commls-sloners, who ten days ago, after an Investigation In-vestigation of two weeks, decided that Mr. Smith had not been conducting the affairs of his office in the propr way. Sheriff Smith Is sharged with malfeasance mal-feasance office, It being set 'forth In the complaint that on two or three different occasions he received pay from tho State for certain work and then billed tho county and received payment again for tho samo work. The total amounts aggregate less than $50. It Is also set forth that Sheriff Smith has failed to keep a proper fee book, failed to mako returns properly, tho Implication being that he Is guilty of negllgcucoor Incompetence, If not Intentional In-tentional criminality. Tho case will be heard on April 10. Sheriff Smith says that he Is a victim vic-tim of spltework on the part of a county commissioner and a deputy in ono of the county offices, and ho will light tlc case.F. K. Ncbeker and Geo.
