Tom Smith, candidate to succeed himself as shcritf, is not dismayed by tho activity of others In the race. He says his canvas Is going very smoothly. In reference to tho nomination for sheriff, T. W. Peterson, of Hyrum, says ho Is undecided, the former statement state-ment In Tiik RuruiiLiCAK being a little too broad. Eugene Schaub's name has" been mentioned as a nominee for county surveyor on tho Republican ticket. It Is understood that Carl Schaub will be out of the race. Jos. A. Smith, of Providence, and Wm. M. Smith, Lorenzo Hansen and Joseph Qulnncv. of Logan, are mentioned men-tioned In connection with tho republican repub-lican nomination for representative from the central district. The name of William Hrangharo, of tho Fifth ward, is heard In connection with the nomination for Logan precinct pre-cinct Justice of the Peace on the He-publlcan He-publlcan ticket. Friends urge that he would make a very excellent officer.
