Show OUR MONEYED MEN. Moneyed men arc, as a rule, advantageous advan-tageous to a town in a general way. Hut the moneyed man who merely ; lends his money to the people at a good rate of Interest Is not the man who should hate great credit for the development of a town. The moneyed money-ed man who perchance merely owns a good piece of residence property and then Invests In foreign enterprises whatovcr surplus ho has is hardly as groat advantago to a city as the aver-ago aver-ago citizen who as far as ho can lends assistance in developing local resources re-sources For instance, an enterprise Is started by humbler citizens who put in si hundred or so dollars each. The moneyed man looks askanco and continues to loan his money at Id per cent. The enterprise succeeds, the moneyed man finally buys In and gets credit for being a benefactor. Ho does not dc3orve the credit. Perchance Per-chance the enterprise goes down hill; the moneyed man lets it slide, or else bins it up and pushes it to success Is he deserving of any partlcultural credit? No! Logan has not a few men of pretty fair means who havo mado out of the people what they now have. How much aro they doing to bring Logan to the front? Perhaps they aro doing certain things, but could they not do more? It looks to tho other fellow like they could interest inter-est themselves In various local propositions prop-ositions to the good of themselves and tho city. Let's hope that some of them will do so. |
