Show Hyde Park Primary Fair ! i " " -Great Display And Lots of Fun. Other I Newsy Items From Beet Town. HYDE 1'AHK, November 11, 1000. The Y. L. 1. A. and Primary association associa-tion gave a fair October .10 and 31, which was a very creditable allalr to the promotcis of It. There were some very lino quilts, pillow shams, picture throws, cushions and all manner of fancy needle work. The fruit and vegetable display ws very good, but could have been much better. There were norao sugar beets from Jacob Jorgcnscn's farm:at King which weighed twenty pounds each. Large squash, apples, onions, potatoes, pears, carrots, sunflower heads eighteen eigh-teen inches In diameter, and many other fruits and vegetables. The display of war clubs, arrows, mats, shells, etc., furnished by .lames 1. Klrby, attracted considerable attention. atten-tion. A curtain was drawn across one corner cor-ner and the young folks had a fish line and pole, and for live and ten cents a list), pulled all kinds of presents over the curtain. Then there was an Ice cream stand In one corner of the room and all who cared to pay for It could have nil they desired. A lino program of songs, recitations, Instrumental music, etc., was rendered each evening. Tickets for a quilt drawing wcro sold for ten cents each and Geo. M. Grant held the lucky numbers that drow both. The fair was a success in a linanclal way, as well as being very pleasing and entertaining. Had it been held earlier In the season a better showing could have been made. We hopo this will not bo the last, as they aro productive pro-ductive of much good and pleasure. Ueet digging Is about over and many of the farmers aro plowing their land ready for next year's crop. There aro about .'1,000 tons of beets piled up at our station at present. We will have plenty of work for somo time, when they are put on tno cars. Ilcforo starting start-ing to pile them we shipped over one hundred cars The bad accident that Rrother Jamts Hanccy met with yesterday has caused considerable anxiety among the people, as he is one of Hyde Park's greatest benefactors. All hopo to see him soon restored to his health and strength. Mrs. Harriet Woolf, who was quite sick when we wrote last, Is now able to bo around again. Halls was taken to Logan Lo-gan yesterday for medical attention. Moses Jensen has left his father's farm and moved Into town, for tho winter, t The wooping cough is still with us and seems hard to get rid of. |
