Show s Logan Marble Superfine Big Contractors Give Order and Praise our Product. Canyon Road to be Fixed. CJoseph K. and Louis Cardon, with Commissioner Ktiowlcs, made atrip to tlio Utah Marble Co.'s property In Lo-(ran Lo-(ran canon Frlday.returnlng Saturday afternoon. They mado the trip to Investigate In-vestigate the roads with a view of having hav-ing them put In better condition, If possible. The marble company hopes to be hauling marble soon and certain scctlonsof the road, especially that between be-tween the forks, 13 In a very bad shape, hence the eirort to better things. As we understand It, Commissioner Knovlcs was impressed with the possibility pos-sibility of a great Indusory being opened open-ed up by the Marble Co., and Is In favor of lending any assistance possible by Improving toad conditions. In places great cut-oils can be made to advantage advan-tage and other places said to be dangerous dan-gerous can be Ilxcd up at comparatively compara-tively little cost. Any Improvement made would be of advantage not only to the marble company but to any and all who travel through the canyon. At The Qnarry. It Is reported that work at the quarry Is progressing nicely. More than two cars of stone Is already out and the ledge Is opened up In such a way now that the work can bo dono to greater advantage. Only the pink Is being quairlcd at this time, though It is probablo that one of tho dark kinds an this section of the property will also be quarried at an early date. The stone already out would have been hauled to the sawing plant In this city ero this had It been posslblo to secure teams. Howcver.thc plant has been busy working up the stone for tho Rccles rcsldcnco In course of construction construc-tion on West Center street, a rather large contract, and could not have h nulled the marble product. - Experts Enthusiastic. A letter from Lewis T. Shipley, supervising su-pervising architect of the federal , building at Ogdcn, received hero Saturday Sat-urday asked for quotations on the very I black marble and the pink. Louis Cardon was In Ogden on Wednesday and wlillo there submitted samples to various contractors. Mr. Shipley was highly pleased and Tom Lovall, who was sent to Spokane to buy tho 812,000 worth of whlto marble used In Ogdcn's federal building was enthusiastic beyond be-yond words. Ho put the Logan pink marble beside the Spokano product, and readily declared that tho Washington Wash-ington product was "not In It". In III opinion the $12,003 contract could have been secured very easily by the Utah company had they been In shape to furnish quantities of material like the samples shown last week. Will Go In Bank. If the local company can quote Mr. Shipley the right prices, ho will use the black and pink marble In a bank building at Ogdcn and It Is not beyond posslblo that tho pink may be secured for the floor of a largo building there. Different contractors say that they aro charmed with the local product, will use it themselves and push the home marble all they can. A Good Proposition. From the time the first polished sample of tho Logan canyon marble was shown In thU city, Tiik Rkpuiili-can Rkpuiili-can has never doubted the wonderful possibilities there. After Inspecting the property a year ago possibility seemed strong probability to us, aud later developments make It a certainty certain-ty that at some time Micro will be a great marble Industry opened hero. In White 1'lne county, Nevada, a company com-pany owning 12.5 acres on which Is a ledge of white marble, Is capitalized at $1,000,000. Tho Utah Marble Co.owns 1,700 acres with not less than a dozen different varieties' of marble. It ought to bo worth seventeen times as much as the Nevada property and wo con-Hdently con-Hdently believe that proper development develop-ment will eventually make It of that value. |
