Show Great Tunnels Projected. Two projects for tho construction of railway tunnels of unprecedented magnltudo arc now undor discussion. Do Lobol's plan for tunneling tunnel-ing IJehrlng strait to connect Siberia with Alaska. Tho author of this plan explained It before a largo meeting of tho Navy and Military club at St Petersburg recently. Uehrlng strait, he said, Is about 3S& miles broad and 1G7 feet dcop, but It has two islands so situated that tho tunnel could bo divided Into thrcd sections of about 12 V4 miles, each. Tho other project Is older, and relates to tunneling tho English channel between Dover and Calais. French engineers havo recent' ly been studying tho entcrprlso anow. Tho distance Is about 23 mllos.
