Show HANSEN AFFAIR UP AGAIN Relatives of Dead Woman Continue to Receive Anonynous Letters. The reading public will icadily recall re-call tho sudden death about ono jcar ago of Mrs. Lucy Hansen, wife of Wm Hansen, and daughter of Thomas Thom-as Morgan Tho fact that she died fiom polslon placed in mush eaten at bicukfast Is still fresh In the minds of all and that the responsibility of her death was not placed by a coroner's Jury has not been forgotten. At that time thcic was a general belief that Mis. Hansen had been foully dealt with, and during the year that has passed since the occurrence, that feeling feel-ing has not lessened In the minds of any, it has grown In the minds of those whose close connection with the interested patties has led them to follow the case closely. Since the Investigation, which failed to determine whether the case was one of suicide or murder, there have been many little occurrences In connection con-nection that has kept It fresh in the minds of the public. Though the press of this city, out of consideration for the relatives of the dead woman and the suspected, has said little or nothing about the matter heretofore, it has been known In each office that unsigned letters in which different rep resentations were made, have been received by various people. While these lettlcrs strengthened suspicions and raised new ones, It has never been considered that anything dcllnlte had been revealed, hence the olllcials have refused to act In the matter in any way, and the nowspapeis have kept silent. I (ulte recently, however, the letter writer has been at work again, and I in view of nil ciicumstances It seems Impossible that tho caso shall icmalned closed. The last ono written came Into the hands of Lorcno Benson, a iclatlve of the dead woman. It was printed fiom lubber type and reads as follows: "The blood of the Innocent crys for vengenance, 1 appeal to you her next iclatlve as a man and a citieu to bilng this thing to light and if you lack the courage or the stamina, then 1 am misinformed as to your character. charac-ter. Tho sentiment of the whole community Is clear It up. Get up and be a man." In all communications every effort to conceal the Identity of the writer has been made The parents of the dead woman have received several letters during the months gone by, one detailing the crime, purporting to to come from some woman "Jealous of Mrs Hansen" who slluped Into the house surreptitiously and placed the polslon In the breakfast food. This paitlcular letter was traced to the writer who In explanation otleicd the asstiiance that he only sought In this way to clear Mrs. Hansen's death from any suplcion of suicide, a suspicion however that has been entertained en-tertained by very few, If general expression ex-pression may be accepted. Different letters might be mentioned men-tioned and detail gone Into, but it's a sad case which should be closed by prompt, definite decesive action and as little publicity as possible. If tho suspected Is guilty he himself can not suffer by any action more than is his portion at present, and publicity can only bringsufferlng to his relatives and the relatives of tho dead woman. All Indications point in a certain direction, direc-tion, but indications may be wrong and innocence made to sutler. It is a disgrace on this people that the matter mat-ter has not been settled definitely long before this. |
