Show In a recent issue the Journal gives a forecast of tho appointments Mayor Robinson and tho city council will make at the beginning of the new year. Among other, prognostications it is said that "Watermastcr Holt is pretty certain to retire." Inquiry from that gentleman reveals tho fact that ho will not retire voluntarily that he is In the race for appointment ' again. This much may be said of Samuel Holt, Thomas Hlanchard, and Anders Olason, the water and street force each man has done good work In his place, and without presuming to Indicate any line of action for the mayor or city council, It may be suggested sug-gested that experience should weigh heavily when appointments are made. However, Tiik Rki'uiimcan has confidence con-fidence In the mayor and council and doubt not that a good set of men will be appointed despite forecasts that indicate in-dicate dlslrc rather than conclusion from Indications that go before. |
