McLaurln Praises Lincoln and lUcKlntej. Russell Sage ana Miss Helen M. Gould were honored guests at the seventh annual banquet of the Society of Mayflower May-flower descendants at New York, Friday Fri-day night. Senator McLaurin of South Carolina, one of the principal speakers, said: "There are only two men in our history who fully understood the south Lincoln and McKinley. If Lincoln had lived there would have been an end to carpet-bagism among us, and if McKinley had lived he would have reunited re-united the discordant sections of the south, for, more than any other man, understood them."
