The quality pf the product has been greatly improved im-proved and is now considered equal to any requirement. Mike Holmes is under arrest at Park City on a charge of attempting to rob a man named Boyle., Holmes knocked Boyle down, but the cries of the latter brought the police before he had been relieved of his cash. Mrs. Louisa Pearson, widow of Martin Mar-tin Pearson, is suing Sandy Lodge, I. O. O. F., for sick benefits which she alleges Mr. Pearson was entitled to, amouting to 8488. It is the first case of the kind ever filed in Utah. The continual spread of scarlet fever and diphtheria in Salt Lake, and their viruleney this year, has led to the ap- pointment of two'quarantine inspectors inspec-tors who will endeavor to secure a more strict enforcement of quarantine. The lake level is stationary and the prediction is made that it will gradually gradu-ally rise, and next summer will be higher than it has been for some years-With years-With a good snowfall this winter the lake will not be so low again for some years. W. C. B. Orrock of Richfield has recently re-cently opened up a promising prospect on the east side of the Sevier valley north of GlenVvood, a ton of ore taken from the face of the vein showing 38 per cent, lead and a trace of gold and silver. As a result of the prevalence of scarlet scar-let fever and diphtheria in Salt Lake City, the board of health of Tooele county has quarantined against Salt Lake county, and children under 16 years of age who cross the boundary line will subject their parents or guardians guar-dians to penalties for misdemeanor. ' Sanpete citizens are moving for the establishment of a forest reserve in the Wasatch mountains in the southern end of that county. It is contended that the destruction of the little timber there is working havoc with the water shed from which Gunnison, Centerfield, Mayfield, Willow Creek and Sterling receive great benefits. The price of flour was twice advanced in price to the retailers by millers last week. The importation of eastern flour by retailers who can pay 50 cents a hundred freight and then compete with Utah flour has checked the raise in price. |
