Show Arizona's Governor Advocates Sate of Indian In-dian Reserves. Governor Murphy of Arizona in his annual report advocates the sale and settlement of the large Indian reserves within the territory, with the possible exception of the Navajo reservation in northeastern Arizona, and the government govern-ment construction of reservoirs for the storage of water for irrigation in suitable suita-ble locations, with canals leading to the lands allotted to the Indians. The governor says the latter section, in which Indian labor , could be largely utilized, would help to make farmers of the Indians, and that further maintenance main-tenance of the tribal relations as now conducted and the retention of reservation reser-vation agencies around which the Indians In-dians cluster and live in idleness on government rations, seriously retards the civilization of the Indians. |
