Show More Prunes Grown Than Can be Sold. San Jose, California, packers estimate esti-mate the amount of prunes of the crop of 1900 now on hand at 1,000 carloads. The estimated crop of Santa Clara county prunes this year is 40,000,000 pounds, which, together with the estimated esti-mated 20,000,000 pounds of the Italian variety produced by Oregon, Washington Washing-ton and Idaho, constitute the stock to be disposed of. So far this season neither commercial packers nor the California Dried Fruit association has made any particular effort to dispose of this season's crop. All feel inclined to get last year's crop out, of the way first. The growers are showing signs of uneasiness, but the fruit association is confident of virtually virtu-ally finding a market for the new crop at good figures. |
