Show Cncleanllness Causes Spread of Leprosy in Denmark. United States Consul Nelson at Bergen, Ber-gen, Norway, has sent a report to the marine hospital service, in which he says the prevalence of leprosy in Denmark Den-mark must be imputed to the unclean-liness unclean-liness and the grotesque carelessness of the people. He says there are six leprosy patients there, of whom four are in Copenhagen. In Denmark, leprosy does not belong to those few diseases which are subjected sub-jected to public treatment.. At the Laugarnors hospital in Iceland, established estab-lished by the Odd Fellows order, there were eighty-one patients received dur ing 1899, and of these, eighteen are now dead and only two have been discharged dis-charged as fully recovered. Relapses were usual in leprosy easer. |
